One of the biggest names that is floating around in NBA trade rumors is Amare Stoudemire of the Phoenix Suns. The athletic power forward is reported being shopped by the Suns mostly due to the fact that he’s likely to leave Phoenix during the summer as a free agent.
Since Stoudemire is a key player in fantasy basketball, how would a trade affect his value? In almost every scenario, the news isn’t good. If traded, Stoudemire isn’t going to be as valuable in the fantasy basketball world.
The reason is Steve Nash. Nash is arguably the best passer in the NBA and he has accounted for a lot of Stoudemire’s points over the years. The Suns continuously run pick-and-rolls using Stoudemire and Nash. Wherever Stoudemire ends up, it’s highly doubtful he’ll have a point guard nearly as talented as Nash.
As for Nash himself, his value will also be lowered without his pick-and-roll partner. However, that largely depends on who the Suns receive in the trade.
